Description
Hailea HX8860 Water Pump is a robust, high-efficiency submersible pump that we have been supplying to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 for use in irrigation systems, flood and drain setups, recirculating DWC arrays and aquaponic installations. The HX8860 delivers a maximum flow rate in the 8,000–8,860 litre-per-hour range with excellent head pressure characteristics, making it one of the most powerful pumps in the Hailea HX series and suitable for large-scale commercial growing applications where sustained high-volume nutrient delivery is required around the clock.
HX8860 Performance at Commercial Growing Scale
At nearly 9,000 litres per hour maximum output, the HX8860 sits at the upper end of commercial grow room pump capacity within a compact submersible housing. In large commercial flood and drain systems with combined tray volumes approaching 1,000 litres, getting the entire system flooded within a practical 5–8-minute window requires a pump of this output. The HX8860’s ceramic shaft assembly and high-quality impeller are designed for the continuous, high-load operation that commercial systems demand — maintaining consistent flow rates without the degradation of performance that occurs in cheaper pumps after weeks of continuous use in warm nutrient solution. The large-bore 25mm outlet minimises back-pressure at maximum output, and the included flow adjuster allows throttling for smaller systems or commissioning purposes.
Installation, Maintenance and System Pairing
Install fully submerged with the inlet strainer fitted. Use 25–32mm outlet pipework for maximum efficiency at this flow rate. Clean the strainer every 7–10 days. Connect via a heavy-duty contactor or timer rated for the pump’s amperage. Do not run dry. For complete commercial irrigation management, pair with a 16-way contactor, a commercial digital timer and a Hailea V60 air pump to maintain dissolved oxygen in the reservoir between flood cycles.
