Description
Insulated Ducting 250mm (10″) is a thermally and acoustically insulated flexible duct for medium-to-large grow room extraction systems requiring both noise reduction and heat containment in ducting runs. We have been recommending insulated ducting to UK growers since 2017 as the superior alternative to bare aluminium flexible ducting in any installation where sound transmission and heat loss through duct walls are a concern.
Why Insulated Ducting Outperforms Standard Flexible Duct
In a typical grow room extraction setup, the inline fan draws hot, odorous air from the growing space and pushes it through ducting to the carbon filter and ultimately out of the building. Standard aluminium flexible ducting transfers noise from the fan and airflow turbulence directly through the thin metal wall to the surrounding space — meaning the ducting run itself becomes a noise source even when the fan is mounted with vibration isolators. Insulated ducting’s acoustic layer absorbs this transmitted noise, significantly reducing the audible noise from the ducting run at any distance from the system.
The 250mm diameter suits medium-to-large extraction systems requiring high airflow volumes — typically grow rooms of 2.4m x 2.4m to 3m x 3m using fans in the 800–1500 m³/hr range. Using the correct diameter ducting for your fan prevents the back pressure build-up that reduces fan performance and efficiency at any operating speed.
Installation Notes
Minimise bends and maximise straight runs for best airflow performance. Connect to fan and filter collars using Fast Clamp connectors with aluminium tape at each joint for an airtight seal. Insulated ducting is slightly less flexible than bare aluminium duct — allow adequate bend radius during routing to avoid kinking the inner duct.
Compatible with 250mm inline fans and carbon filters. Pairs with Systemair RVK or Isomax fans in appropriate airflow ratings for complete, professionally installed extraction systems.
