Coco coir occupies a unique position in the growing media landscape — it combines the physical structure and water retention properties of a solid substrate with the responsiveness and control of a near-inert hydroponic medium. Coco’s natural fibre structure creates a pore environment that holds moisture while retaining 20–30% air by volume even at saturation, providing plant roots with both the water and oxygen they need simultaneously. The high surface area of coco fibres supports beneficial microbial populations that contribute to root zone health, while the pH-neutral base allows precise nutrient programme control without the strong buffering that organic soil exerts on pH management. Pre-Treatment, Growing System Compatibility, and Performance
