Description

Plagron Coco Premium 50 Litre is a high-quality pre-washed and buffered coco coir substrate from Dutch nutrients specialist Plagron, supplied in a generous 50-litre bag suitable for filling large containers, establishing multiple plants, or setting up a complete coco-based growing system. Plagron sources their coco fibre from carefully selected plantations and applies an extensive buffering process to ensure a consistent, predictable substrate chemistry that growers can rely on from the first feed.

Raw coco coir is naturally high in sodium and potassium from its coastal-grown origins. Plagron’s production process removes excess minerals and then buffers the coco with calcium to pre-saturate its naturally high cation exchange sites. This buffering step is critical: unbuffered coco absorbs calcium and magnesium from feed solutions at a disproportionate rate, causing rapid deficiencies in young plants. A properly buffered substrate like Plagron Coco Premium begins absorbing nutrients at the same rate it releases them, giving growers a stable and predictable feeding environment from day one.

The physical structure delivers an excellent balance of water retention and air porosity, with the fibre length and compression calibrated to maintain good aeration through multiple irrigation cycles without compacting. pH sits in the 5.8-6.5 range and background EC is well below 1.0 mS/cm.
