Description
SHOGUN Katana Roots is a premium root stimulator and root zone protector that we have been recommending to UK hydroponic growers since 2017 as one of the most effective root-building products available. Developed by SHOGUN’s R&D team using a blend of natural plant extracts, amino acids and root-zone protective compounds, Katana Roots drives lateral root branching and root hair density from propagation through to early flowering — building the extensive, healthy root architecture that underpins maximum nutrient uptake and yield potential.
How SHOGUN Katana Roots Builds Superior Root Architecture
The root system’s total surface area is the primary determinant of how efficiently a plant can absorb water and nutrients. A plant with a dense, highly branched root network can absorb the same nutrient solution volume through a far wider contact surface than a poorly developed root system — meaning more nutrients and water reach the plant per unit of time, supporting faster growth, larger canopy development and ultimately heavier flowers. Katana Roots promotes root branching and elongation through a combination of natural auxin precursors that stimulate lateral root initiation, amino acids that provide the building blocks for rapid cell division in the root meristem, and protective compounds that create a biological environment hostile to Pythium and other root zone pathogens. Growers consistently report visibly whiter, denser and more branched root systems with Katana Roots compared to base nutrient programmes alone.
Application Rate and Programme Compatibility
Use SHOGUN Katana Roots from the first watering of cuttings or seedlings at 1 ml per litre, increasing to 2 ml per litre as plants establish through vegetative growth. Discontinue at week 2–3 of flowering when root development plateaus. Compatible with all growing media — coco, clay pebbles, rockwool, DWC and soil — and integrates seamlessly with all SHOGUN base nutrient ranges. For maximum root zone health, combine with SHOGUN Zenzyme (enzymatic root zone cleaner) and SHOGUN CalMag for a complete root-first growing approach.
