Description
AutoPot AquaValve Silicon is a silicon seal replacement component for the AutoPot AquaValve, maintaining the watertight performance of the valve mechanism over extended use by restoring the sealing surface that controls nutrient solution flow in the AutoPot passive feeding system. We have been recommending AutoPot systems and their genuine spare parts to UK growers since 2017, and maintaining the AquaValve in peak condition with the correct silicon components is the most reliable way to ensure the passive, pump-free feeding mechanism continues operating with the precision the system depends on.
How the AquaValve Silicon Seal Maintains System Performance
The AutoPot AquaValve relies on a precise float mechanism to maintain the correct depth of nutrient solution in the growing tray — typically 20–25mm — by opening to admit solution when the level drops below the trigger point and closing again once the level is restored. This opening and closing action requires a reliable, liquid-tight seal at the valve seat to prevent continuous slow dripping when the valve is in the closed position. Over time and with repeated use, the silicon seal at the valve seat can compress, wear, or degrade — particularly in hard water areas where mineral deposits can build up on valve components and affect the sealing surface. Replacing the silicon seal restores the original closing performance of the valve, preventing the slow continuous dripping that would otherwise cause trays to overflow and potentially waterlog the root zone. The silicon material is specifically chosen for its inertness to nutrient solutions and its flexibility, which allows it to conform to the valve seat and provide a consistent seal even in the conditions of continuous contact with liquid.
When and How to Replace the AutoPot AquaValve Silicon
Replace the AquaValve silicon seal as part of your between-grow maintenance routine, or at any point you observe continuous slow dripping from the valve when the tray should be at its full level. Remove the AquaValve from the tray lid and disassemble according to the AutoPot instructions. Remove the old silicon component and fit the replacement, ensuring it is correctly seated in the valve mechanism. Reassemble and test by filling the system and observing several fill cycles to confirm the valve opens and closes cleanly. Store spare silicon seals alongside your other AutoPot maintenance components for quick replacement when needed.
