Description

GT 150 WHITE TOP PLATE is the reflective replacement lid for the Nutriculture GT 150 propagation and growing system. The GT 150 System and Top Plate Function

The Nutriculture GT 150 is a compact, single or dual-site NFT unit suited to small-scale propagation, single-plant growing, or evaluation of the NFT method before scaling up. The white top plate in this system performs the same dual function as in all Nutriculture systems — holding the net pot assemblies over the nutrient film channel and excluding light from the reservoir below to prevent algae growth. The white surface reflects incident light back upward, contributing a small but useful addition to the light available at the base of the canopy and making early-stage algae contamination visible against the bright white background during routine inspection.

When to Replace the GT 150 White Top Plate

Inspect the plate at every cycle changeover, cleaning thoroughly with a dilute bleach or Oxy-Plus solution. Look for cracks at the edges and around any net pot holes — even hairline cracks allow light into the reservoir that triggers algae establishment in the warm, nutrient-rich solution within days. White plastic is also susceptible to UV yellowing and embrittlement over extended exposure to high-output grow room lamps; a plate that has become noticeably yellow or brittle should be replaced preventatively before it fails mid-cycle. The replacement cost is minimal compared to the disruption of a contaminated or flooding system during an active grow.
