Description
The Irrigation Elbow is a 13mm barbed push-fit connector designed to make a 90-degree change of direction in 13mm polythene irrigation tubing — the standard mainline diameter used in grow room drip systems. It is an essential fitting that enables drip irrigation lines to be routed around corners, along the edges of growing trays, and into compact spaces without kinking or restricting flow through the tubing.
Kinking is the primary cause of uneven water distribution in hand-assembled dripper systems. When 13mm polythene tube is bent through a sharp angle without a rigid fitting to support the bend radius, the tube wall collapses internally and creates a partial or complete blockage. Even a partial kink significantly reduces the flow rate downstream of the restriction, resulting in under-watering of the plants connected to that section of line. A correctly fitted elbow maintains the full internal bore of the tube through the bend, preserving consistent pressure and flow to all downstream drippers.
The barbed push-fit design requires no tools or adhesive — the tube simply pushes firmly onto the barb and is held by the interference fit. The fit is waterproof under the operating pressure of standard submersible grow room pumps. Available at The Horticulture Company alongside straight connectors, tee pieces, end plugs, and the full range of 13mm irrigation components.
