Description
SonicAir Humidifier is an ultrasonic grow room humidifier that we have been supplying to UK indoor growers since 2017 for maintaining optimal relative humidity during propagation, vegetative growth and early flowering. Ultrasonic humidifiers generate a fine, cool water mist by vibrating a piezoelectric transducer at ultrasonic frequency — producing droplets small enough to remain suspended in the air and disperse evenly through the grow room without wetting surfaces or adding significant heat to the environment. This makes the SonicAir ideal for grow rooms where temperature management is critical and the heat output of steam-based humidifiers would be problematic.
Why Humidity Control Is Critical at Different Growth Stages
Relative humidity requirements change significantly across the growing cycle. During propagation and early vegetative growth, high humidity (70–80% RH) reduces the vapour pressure deficit around cuttings and seedlings — slowing transpiration and keeping young plants turgid while root systems are not yet developed enough to replace moisture losses rapidly. As the vegetative phase progresses, target humidity drops to 60–70% to promote transpiration and nutrient uptake. During flowering, humidity must be progressively reduced to 40–50% to prevent Botrytis and powdery mildew establishing in dense canopy zones. The SonicAir allows easy output adjustment for these changing requirements — add humidity precisely when and where it is needed without over-humidifying the space.
Capacity, Water Quality and Placement
The SonicAir’s output capacity is suitable for grow tents and rooms up to approximately 9–12m². Use distilled or RO-purified water in ultrasonic humidifiers wherever possible — hard tap water causes white mineral dust deposits as the dissolved minerals are carried into the air with the mist and deposited on surfaces when the water evaporates. Position the humidifier at canopy height or slightly below, with a circulation fan distributing the mist evenly through the space. Clean the water reservoir weekly to prevent mineral scale build-up on the transducer. Pair with a digital hygrometer and a RAM dehumidifier for complete bidirectional humidity management across all growth stages.
