The SBS Small 25/150 designation refers to the insert hole size of 25mm and the block dimensions — a compact propagation cube suited to cuttings with stem diameters of 5–8mm, which covers the vast majority of vegetative cuttings taken from tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, ornamentals, and fast-growing fruiting crops. Best Practice for Grodan SBS Propagation

Pre-soak all Grodan SBS cubes in pH 5.5–5.8, EC 0.5 solution for 30–60 minutes before use to flush the alkaline manufacturing residue and condition the fibres. Drain until no water drips freely, then insert cuttings to the base of the hole. Maintain humidity above 80% with a propagation dome, bottom heat at 22–24°C, and soft indirect light for the first week. Do not water from above — any additional moisture should be added to the tray base so the cube draws it up by capillary action. Check for root emergence from the cube base from day 8 onwards; most healthy cuttings will show in 10–14 days.
