Finding the right hydroponic nutrients transforms an average grow into an exceptional one. At The Horticulture Company, we stock a comprehensive range of nutrients and additives for every growing style — from pure hydroponics and coco to organic soil and hybrid systems. Whether you are feeding seedlings, pushing vegetative growth, or maximising flower development, the right nutrient programme makes all the difference.
Base Nutrients, Boosters and Additives
A complete nutrient programme consists of three layers. First, a quality base nutrient provides the macro-elements nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium your plants need throughout their lifecycle. Second, a growth or bloom booster elevates NPK ratios at key stages, pushing denser structure and heavier yields. Third, additives and supplements — enzymes, amino acids, beneficial microbes and PK boosters — refine results and protect root health.
We carry leading brands including Canna, Advanced Nutrients, Shogun, Growth Technology, Biobizz, Dutch Pro, Mills and many more. Each brand has a distinct formulation philosophy. Canna uses mineral chelates for precision uptake. Advanced Nutrients pH-perfect technology automatically stabilises solution pH. Biobizz uses certified organic inputs for clean, terpene-rich results. Shogun uses smart technology for responsive feeding.
Choosing Nutrients for Your Growing Medium
Matching your nutrient to your growing medium is critical. Coco coir is slightly acidic and calcium-hungry — use a coco-specific base nutrient with elevated Ca and Mg. Rockwool and hydroton perform best with a clean mineral nutrient at EC 1.0–2.5 depending on growth stage. Organic soil buffers naturally, so organic-based nutrients like Biobizz or Plagron work beautifully. DWC and recirculating systems benefit from highly soluble, chelated formulas to prevent salt build-up.
Our team has been helping UK growers optimise their feed schedules since 2017. We understand the demands of indoor growing in the British climate and stock nutrients suitable for beginners through to advanced commercial growers.
Feeding Schedules and EC Management
Start with a low EC of around 0.8–1.2 in propagation and early veg, then raise gradually to 1.8–2.2 during peak veg, and 1.5–2.0 in bloom depending on strain sensitivity. Always check run-off EC and pH. A run-off EC significantly higher than input indicates salt build-up — flush with pH-corrected water or use an enzymatic flush product. Monitor both input and run-off pH, keeping within 5.8–6.2 for hydroponics and 6.0–7.0 for soil.
Organic and Biostimulant Products
Increasingly, growers are turning to biostimulants and beneficial microbes to improve plant resilience and flavour profiles. Products like Ecothrive Biosys, Great White mycorrhizae, Plant Success Orca and Mammoth P unlock soil microbiomes, improve phosphorus availability and promote explosive root development. These products are compatible with most nutrient ranges and especially effective in organic and bio-organic grows.
