Autopot systems are one of the most elegant and practical growing innovations available to UK indoor growers — a gravity-fed, passive watering system that delivers nutrient solution to your plants on demand without pumps, timers or electricity. The simple AQUAvalve mechanism at the heart of every Autopot system releases a measured dose of nutrient solution when the tray level drops below a set threshold, providing a self-regulating, automated feeding cycle that adapts naturally to each plant’s uptake rate.
How Autopot Systems Work
Each Autopot module consists of a growing pot (typically 15L) and a shallow tray connected by an AQUAvalve. The valve opens when the tray is empty, filling it with 20–35mm of nutrient solution from a gravity-fed reservoir. The plant draws from this tray reservoir through the growing medium until it is empty, at which point the valve opens again. This cycle repeats automatically throughout the grow without any external control.
The gravity feed means your reservoir only needs to be positioned slightly higher than the growing modules — no pump or timer is required. This dramatically reduces system complexity, power consumption and the risk of pump failures that can devastate a hydroponic crop. Autopots are particularly well-suited to soil, coco coir and clay pebble substrates, all of which wick nutrient solution up from the tray effectively.
Autopot for Busy Growers
The automation of Autopot systems makes them especially popular with growers who cannot water daily. Once the reservoir is filled (typically every 5–14 days depending on plant size), the system self-manages completely. This reliability makes Autopot one of the most user-friendly routes into hydroponic growing — delivering hydroponic-level performance with soil-level simplicity.
We have been supplying Autopot systems to UK growers since 2017. Browse the full Autopot range below.
