The humble pot is the foundation of every soil and coco grow — but the choice of pot size, material and drainage design significantly impacts root health, watering frequency and ultimately yield. From standard plastic pots to premium fabric air pots and drainage saucers that keep your growing space clean and manageable, we stock a comprehensive range of pots and saucers for UK indoor growers at every scale.
Choosing the Right Pot Size
Pot size determines how quickly the medium dries between waterings and how much root volume your plant has available. For indoor soil and coco grows in a standard vegetative-to-flower cycle, 11L pots are the most popular choice — providing adequate root volume for full-cycle plants without excessive drying time between irrigations. Faster-cycling strains or smaller-trained plants do well in 7L–9L containers. For auto-flowering varieties, 11L–15L pots are ideal, as autoflowers benefit from more root volume to support their rapid, continuous development.
Don’t be tempted to use very large pots in an attempt to maximise yield — pots that are too large for the plant retain moisture for too long, causing anaerobic conditions in the root zone and increasing the risk of root rot and overwatering. Match pot size to the plant’s expected size at harvest.
Plastic vs Fabric vs Air Pots
Standard plastic pots are inexpensive, widely available and perfectly functional for soil and coco growing. Fabric pots air-prune roots at the container wall — when roots reach the breathable fabric, the air dehydrates the root tip, triggering the plant to produce lateral roots instead. The result is a denser, more fibrous root mass that absorbs nutrients more efficiently than circling roots in plastic. Air pots use perforated plastic sides to achieve a similar effect.
Matching saucers prevent nutrient run-off from damaging floors and provide a reservoir of nutrients that plants can draw from between waterings. We stock saucers in all sizes to match our pot range. Browse below.
