Effective pest and disease control is essential in any indoor growing environment. The warm, humid conditions ideal for plant growth are equally ideal for pests and pathogens. Identifying problems early and responding quickly with the right products minimises crop stress and protects your investment. We stock a comprehensive range of biological controls, organic sprays, systemic treatments and preventative products for UK indoor growers.
Common Grow Room Pests and How to Beat Them
Spider mites thrive in hot, dry conditions and reproduce rapidly — a small infestation can become severe within days. Treat immediately with a specialist miticide spray or neem oil. Rotate treatments to prevent resistance developing. Maintaining RH above 50% makes conditions less favourable for mites.
Fungus gnats lay eggs in wet growing media, with larvae feeding on roots and beneficial fungi. Allow the top layer of media to dry between waterings to disrupt the lifecycle. Yellow sticky traps capture adults. Beneficial nematodes (Steinernema feltiae) applied to the root zone are extremely effective against larvae and are completely safe for plants and humans.
Whitefly, aphids and thrips are also common in grow rooms. Insecticidal soaps, pyrethrin-based sprays and yellow sticky traps all play a role in integrated pest management (IPM). For serious infestations, biological controls including predatory insects are highly effective and leave no residue on your crop.
Powdery Mildew and Botrytis Control
Powdery mildew appears as white powdery patches on leaves and stems, spreading rapidly in poor air circulation. Treat with potassium bicarbonate spray, copper-based fungicides or specialist products like SM90. Botrytis develops in humid conditions, particularly in dense canopies during late flower. Remove infected tissue immediately and improve airflow. Reduce humidity below 50% during the final two weeks of flowering.
Prevention is always better than cure. Maintain good airflow, keep humidity in the correct VPD range, and regularly inspect undersides of leaves and dense bud sites. We have been advising UK growers on integrated pest management strategies since 2017. Browse our full pest and disease control range below.
